Jim is a founder of the firm and chairs the firm’s business development and transactional department. He represents clients in both Minnesota and Florida. His practice focuses on all aspects of business representation including contract law, mergers and acquisitions, entity formation and litigation management. Mr. Kretsch provides estate planning and business succession planning advice and also represents commercial and residential real estate clients.
Jim was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar, the Florida State Bar and the Minn. U.S. District Court in 1994.He received a B.A. in business economics from the University of Minnesota-Morris in 1990 and a J.D. from Hamline University School of Law in 1993.He belongs to the Minnesota, Florida, and Hennepin County and Dakota County Bar Associations, was named a Rising Star by Minnesota Law and Politics multiple times and is active in many civic organizations including Lakeville Lions and the Lakeville South Clay Target Team where he has been an assistant coach. Jim is a Former member of the Kiwanis, INNS of COURT, and was the 2020 Chairman of the Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce. He is a current board member of the Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lakeville Public Safety Foundation as well as a current member of the Lakeville Lions and the Lakeville Rotary.
